Care & Maintenance

MasterCast engineered composites

GLOSS FINISH

To clean your high gloss finish product: Wipe with a soft cloth or sponge using mild soap and water, or use a non-abrasive foam cleaner. Do not use abrasive cleaners as they may damage the high gloss surface.

To make cleaning your high gloss product easier and to maintain luster, periodic applications of GEL-GLOSS™ or a car/boat wax should be applied.

To remove fine scratches, scuffmarks or light stains from your high gloss product, use an automotive paint buffing compound or baking soda and a hand held polisher. A company technician should take care of deeper scratches.

MATTE FINISH

To clean your matte finish product: Wipe with a soft cloth or sponge using mild soap and water, or use a non-abrasive foam cleaner. If desired, you may use a very mild abrasive cleaner for this type of finish. A periodical application of a furniture polish containing wax should be applied to seal the matte finish.

To remove fine scratches, scuffmarks or light stains from your matte finish product, use a (very fine) scotch pad.

Installation Note: Do not over tighten drain fitting. Over tightening will result in damage to the product. Use 100% silicone when installing pop up assembly.

Warning About Water Temperature: Extreme hot water will cause thermal shock (cracking in the bowl). Your hot water heater should never be set at a temperature where someone could be scalded.

TRAVINA®

Travina® is a natural aggregate-based composite, and must be treated like real stone. And, like stone, Travina® is composed of natural minerals that may react adversely to cleaning chemicals and acids that are not specifically formulated for the care and cleaning of stone. Travina® contains calcium carbonate and is extremely sensitive to acids. Therefore, fruit juices, wine and harsh chemicals must be removed immediately from the surface.

  • Use a soft, clean cloth for best results, and clean with mild soap and water.
  • Too much cleaner or soap may leave a film and cause streaks.
  • Avoid using cleaning products that have a high acid content, such as lemon, vinegar, boric acid, etc. Acids may etch the surface of Travina.
  • Don’t use scouring powders or creams; these products contain abrasives that may scratch the surface.
  • Rinse the surface thoroughly after washing with soap solution and dry with a soft cloth. Use fresh clean rinse water.

DOs:

  • Dust surface frequently
  • Blot up spills immediately
  • Clean surfaces with mild soap and water
Thoroughly rinse with clear water and dry the surface after washing

DON’Ts:

  • Don’t use liquids containing acids on the surface, such as vinegar, lemon juice, etc.
  • Don’t use cleaners that may contain acids, such as bathroom cleaners, grout cleaners, or tub & tile cleaners.
  • Don’t use abrasive cleaners
  • Don’t mix bleach and ammonia; this combination creates a toxic gas.
